We have just purchased this magnificent engine. A 1973 Ward LaFrance 1,000 GPM pumper with a 1,000 gallon tank. She's powered by a Detroit Diesel V8 71 motor with a 5 speed transmission. She'll suit our needs nicely. We are outfitting this vehicle to the 1970's FDNY standards for a squad company. This is similar to the one used on the hit tv show Emergency!TM. Amended: A sad end for what was the best dam piece of apparatus ever to come to this association. We loved her. Rust & all. She ran strong but had too many issues for us to tackle. She will be missed by all who knew her. Hazlet's North Centerville Station, She ran as Engne 22 untill 2002 when she was reassigned to the Community Vol. Fire Co. (Now Dept.) of Mahaffey. She ran as Engine 29-3 there. And let's not forget the rockin" times we had at the shows she attended & got awards for. She was sold to save 3 other Ward la France pieces. As Brigade Chief & Chauffeur of this organization, this was the most fun vehicle we ever owned. The Commissioner will definitely miss her. She always wanted to ride in a Ward & there's nothing like it! My right fist in the air yelling FOREVER YELLOW BIRD!
